It still amazes me how more literal the Scriptures are than what we normally think, or how we sing songs in church and don't realize what we are really saying. Take for example, 2 Chronicles 16:9 which speaks of the eyes of the Lord roving throughout the earth. I have heard of people who have had heavenly encounters who say that the eyes of the living creatures can detach (they are covered with eyes) and have a will of their own and can move on their own. So the eyes of the Lord could really be roving the earth....
But as the title of my post shows, I find how interesting it is that we sing the song "Bind Us Together with Cords that are not easily broken" and we can discern that cord connecting Christians together. In fact at our last discernment night at the church, we did the exercise of discerning the connection between believers. It was interesting how some saw the connections as color, sound, and motion, whereas another person discerned it as musical notes (so they can discern when the reliationship between Christians is "out of tune")
So I guess the question is: How much of the Bible that we think is just poetic or lyrical or symbolic, is actually quite literal... It is an interesting thought.
